Diving South Africa

From Sodwana bay to Aliwal shoal, a sample of some of the best diving South Africa can offer

We had planned on three different diving ventures whilst we were in south Africa. Our first stop was a pre-booked three night stop at the Triton Dive Lodge. This package included self catering accommodation and a 5 dive package diving the reefs of Sodwana bay in the northern part of the Isimangaliso Wetland Reserve, following this we had another pre-booked 5 dive package, this also included 4 nights accommodation in Umkomaas near Durban, but this time a room in a private residence with its owner, Mick Clarke. This was diving Aliwal Shoal. Finally we had reserved a baited shark dive off Aliwal Shoal, but the date was to be determined by the  weather whilst we were in Umkomaas. The day that would give us the best dive conditions with the highest chance of sharks.
